We wanted the interior design to merge together the best of contemporary Scandinavian design and modern Scottish craft. The merging of these cultures is nothing new. The Norse–Gaels in West Scotland were a people of mixed Gaelic and Norse heritage. There are hundreds of words, surnames and place names which possess Scandinavian origins in the West Highlands. These two cultures have many similarities, especially in terms of their relationship to nature, the weather and storytelling. The simplicity of contemporary Nordic design works beautifully with the landscape and the structure of the building, creating the perfect boutique hiding place.
